“equal parts hype queen, patient guide, and creative powerhouse”
Why hello there! Happy you found me on the good old internet.
I'm Tiffany, a high-energy human. I have done and do many things. It's a little confusing but also makes perfect sense in hindsight! I love creating, building, making order our of chaos, and chocolate. Basically, I now do marketing. But... there's a story here. And marketing is like 6 million things.
I started my career as a classical clarinetist and professor of clarinet, music theory, and many other fun things after getting a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music.
Then I found my way into digital content, social media, entrepreneurship, marketing, and consulting. But I was always interested in getting people on board with my enthusiasm, starting with running Camp Sunshine out of my garage when I was in 6th grade for neighborhood kids during the summer... so all of this does make a lot of sense in hindsight.
After living everywhere from Rochester to Germany to now Berkeley, my current day job is being the Associate Director of Marketing at Cal Performances at UC Berkeley. I love it. I also consult with folks when I have time on brand, digital content, social media, funnels, basically putting themselves and their work on the internet. Since my son was born, juggling it all has been a real adventure, and a challenge most days I'm excited to take on.
But speaking of my son: my main job these days is being his mom and most enthusiastic playmate and teacher. (Wolfie, as we call him, was born Jan 7, 2025.)
BULLET POINT VERSION
-
Mom of Wolfie (born Jan 7, 2025) living in Berkeley, CA
-
Obsessed with teaching, learning, creativity since I can remember; also obsessed with pens, East Fork Pottery and Heath Ceramics, good dark chocolate, sourcing high quality food... I'll stop.
-
Found music in middle school and later decided to combine my loves for performing/music/teaching and become a clarinet professor. That led some interesting places from upstate NY to Germany.
-
Spent (too many) years in school getting a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance & literature from the Eastman School of Music plus stops at FSU (undergrad) and Trossingen, Germany for some chamber music studies in the Black Forest...
-
During and after school, I taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, Nazareth College, Syracuse University, SF Conservatory, and too many more places to remember.
-
Presented on various topics about the clarinet and pedagogy at a lot of conferences from Virginia to Belgium
-
Performed at as a soloist and frequent substitute with the Richmond Symphony and a whole lotta other places and with a lot of great friends
-
Co-Directed the Digital Clarinet Academy from 2020-2025; built a 6 figure business plus 15k followers. Through this, built some pretty serious digital content skills.
-
Moved to the Bay Area in 2021. Had to stop my university teaching gig, so I applied to and got a job doing digital content/social media at Cal Performances, a big performing arts presenter at UC Berkeley. Built that Instagram account from 3k to over 20k in two years.
-
On the side, I started Tiffany Valvo Creative to consult with a lot of amazing creatives to build their brand, digital presence, content strategy and more. I've built websites, launched podcasts, put things on sale, created 8 million social media posts, set up email marketing funnels, and been a general hype person to many folks trying to get their ideas into the world. Some former clients include Susanna Klein; Catherine Beeson; Lisa Niemeier; Nicole Maurantonio; Loon Lake Live

My current day job is being the Associate Director of Marketing at Cal Performances and I'm running a fun Instagram account about mothering/adulting.

In the other hours of the day, I mostly cook food for my family and play with Wolfie. And try not to be stressed... but somehow I get more stressed when I do less things. It's a real conundrum. ;)

At the end of the day, I think everything I've done and do comes back to this: I energize and empower people.
It would be an understatement to say that working with Tiffany to build and brand a public facing online presence for my work has been life changing. Tiffany is equal parts HYPE QUEEN, patient guide, and creative powerhouse. Her 'yes, and' approach is grounded in realistic goal setting and is evidenced by achievable results which somehow seem like the bar is set impossibly high when you see the finished product. What I asked her to help me with and what I learned I was capable of along the way blurred beautifully into the self-help space I didn't know I needed. Her work has opened doors for me that I never expected and continue to be absolutely delighted by. I can't recommend Tiffany more highly. Whatever you think she might be worth to you, multiply it by at least 12.
